3 Ways to Stay Focused Throughout the School Year

BSC Header

As a student, do you plan to stay ahead with your assignments, participate in multiple activities and begin an internship this school year? As a parent, are your goals to stay connected with your child’s teachers, volunteer for school functions and be a coach for your child’s sports team? Do you start out the year energized and then feel like you are losing momentum by winter break? Stay focused throughout the school year and achieve your goals using the Producktivity® Principles: Identify. Connect. Organize.

Step 1: Identify

Start planning now for how you will set the stage for a successful school year. Beginning the year strong builds the momentum you need to keep going. Once you have identified your top 3 successful outcomes for the school year, identify your why. Why do you want to achieve these goals? How do they connect to your values? Write down your why and place it somewhere you can see it.

Step 2: Connect

Reflect on your prior school years. What has held you back? What has caused you to lose focus? Anticipating potential challenges gives you the opportunity to create a plan. Connect your challenges with options so you can overcome them. For example, if one of your challenges is procrastination, set 3 daily goals to move forward.

 Step 3: Organize

In our Tips & Techniques: Organizing with Producktivity® we have a saying; If it is important to you, it needs to be on your calendar. Are there steps toward achieving your goals on your calendar? If not, schedule them. Block out time on your calendar to work on homework so you can stay ahead of your assignment deadlines. It is about scheduling your priorities rather than managing time. As public speaker and self-development author Brian Tracy says, Resolve to do something every single day that moves you toward your major goal. It will keep the momentum you feel at the beginning of the school year going.

Using the Producktivity® Principles allows you to stay focused throughout the school year by identifying your why to keep you motivated, anticipating challenges and committing time on your calendar to what is important to you.
