There are only 24 hours in a day. It is important to determine how much time you can commit to each task or priority in your plan. This will make your plan more manageable and alleviate some stress associated with making a career change. Think about how much time you will need to spend on each task. If a networking event is two hours, you don’t necessarily have to attend the full two hours. Maybe you only attend the event for one hour. If there are 3 industry networking events in a month, select the one that best meets your goals. Perhaps, the CEO of an employer you are eyeing will be attending one of the networking events, then prioritize your attendance at this event. Lastly, it is important to consider your personal values. Your career transition is only effective and successful if you are fulfilled personally.

There are things in your life that can and cannot be changed. You cannot change the fact that you have been given the same amount of time each day. You only have 24 hours in a day to achieve your personal and professional goals. However, you can change how you utilize these 1,440 minutes. –Becky S. Corbett, MSW, ACSW
