Leaders are not born; they are developed. It is important for everyone to identify and enhance the leadership style that matches their values and strengths. The first step to defining your leadership style is to identify leadership skills, knowledge, and techniques you believe are critical to being an effective leader. Brainstorm what leadership means to you. Observe individuals that you know in leadership positions. What leadership qualities and characteristics do they embody? How do they communicate and interact with people? What do you like/dislike about how they lead? Lastly, identify your values, strengths, and areas of growth. How do you approach challenges? What are your areas of expertise? What skills would you like to improve? What areas do you need the support and expertise of someone in your inner circle? How do you build consensus? Your answers to these types of questions will help you better identify your leadership style.
We encourage you to use the Identify Producktivity® Principle to discover your leadership skills and techniques.
