Producktivity Principle #3: Organize…Strategy- Manage Time

There is enough time to get everything done, you just cannot get it all done in one day. -Emily Tevault, Chief Producktivity Officer

Because you took the necessary time to identify your ducks and connect with your vision, organizing will be easier. Planning and prioritizing your tasks allows you to manage your time more efficiently and achieve your personal and professional goals more effectively.

Before you begin managing your time, you need to know how you use your time. Track your time in 5 minute increments for a few days and analyze where you spend the majority of it. Identify time you spend that is not helping you reach your goals. Discontinue these tasks. Now you have the data you need to manage your time. Reminder, there are only 24 hours in a day. When you prioritize daily, you also need to assign time to each task. Build in time daily for “planned interruptions.” These are unexpected conversations, meetings, phone calls, and tasks.  Delegate items to other team members, friends, and family. If you are not in a position to delegate, discuss your priorities with you supervisor, significant other, or roommate, and obtain feedback. When you effectively plan, prioritize, and manage your time you will meet your goals.
